Gerald Douglas George

Gerald Douglas George, age 85, died September 13, 2011. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, December 11, 1925, to Samuel David George and Beatrice Padgett George, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Renee Nielson January 7, 1949 and sealed to her in the Manti Temple.



Gerry served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in both Europe and the South Pacific, awarded with a Bronze Star, and Purple Heart and other honors.



He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Bishop, High Councilor, as Stake Mission President, in scouting and in many other callings. He was Supervisory Agent for the Burlington Northern at the time of his retirement in Missoula, Montana. Gerry had a commercial pilot's license, and though he didn't fly after he had children, he had a love for airplanes.



Gerry is survived by his wife Renee and his 7 sons: Steven (Judy) George, Scott (Melinda) George, Samuel (Barbara) George, Jared (Kathy) George, Matthew (Shelly) George: Paul (Brenda) George, Joshua (Susan) George; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Samuel George and his grandson Benjamin George.



Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mapleton North Stake Center, 475 N 1600 W Mapleton Utah. Friends and family are invited to the viewing at 9:45 prior to the services. Burial be will at Spanish Fork Cemetery with Military Rites.
