George "Bill" William Rawlings

July 5, 1923 — November 11, 2009

Mom and Dad are together again after just a short 2 ½ weeks apart. George William Rawlings 86 of Spanish Fork, died peacefully in his sleep November 11, 2009. He was born July 5, 1923 to Charles Alma Rawlings and Jenney May Johnson Rawlings of Vineyard, Utah. He was one of seven children and grew up in the Vineyard area. He attended Lincoln High School where he met his life long sweetheart, Mary Anna Pino. He joined the CCC's worked and lived on site in Provo Canyon and Rock Canyon. In May 1942 he was drafted into the US Army and sent to Europe to fight in WWII. He came home a war hero with 5 major Battle Campaigns; Normandy, Omaha Beach, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and he also received the Meritorious Award. Soon after his return from the war he married his sweetheart Mary Anna Pino on January 19th 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Slat Lake City temple.



Bill retired from Geneva Steele Corp after dedicating 35 years.



Bill enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and hunting with his family. They traveled all over the United States and he returned to Europe and was able to visit all of the areas that he experience during WWII. He loved telling stories about his life experiences and his children and grandchildren. Bill was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with family and neighbors. Bill held many callings in the LDS church and enjoyed working as a leader in the scouting program for many years.



Bill is survived by his sons: Rondo (Barbara) of Grantsville, Chuck (Eileen) of West Valley, Eddy ( Natalie) of Mapleton; daughters: Annette (Richard) Thomas of Springville, Rebecca Nelson (Scott) of Salt Lake City, Jana (Scott) of Tucson, AZ.

Sister Faye Rodidoux. He has 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, 5 sisters, 1 grandson and his beloved son, Rex J Rawlings.



The family would like to thank Bill and Ann's personal CNA, Kelsey Brough, Aspen Senior Care, Nancy, Holly, Marcie, Rosemary, Bert from Vista Care and his great-granddaughter, Alexis Ellsworth, CNA.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14th at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Highland Ward Chapel, 1490 E. 130 N. in Spanish Fork. There will be a viewing held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
