Gene Lawrence "Larry" Johnson
January 23, 1945 — July 8, 2011
Gene Lawrence (Larry) Johnson was born in Provo, UT to D. LaRell and Yvonne Baker Johnson on January 23, 1945.
He graduated from Springville High School in 1963. He served a mission to England from 1965-67. He married Shauna Lucille Cornelius on June 7, 1969 in the LDS Oakland CA Temple. He received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Brigham Young University in 1971. He later completed a Master of Music Education from the same institution. For 20 years he taught music in Washington County, UT at Hurricane High School and Pine View Middle School. In 1992 he began teaching choirs and music theory at Utah Valley University. He retired this summer on June 30th.
He passed away on July 8, 2011 of complication following a liver transplant. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend is survived by his wife, Shauna, his children: Elizabeth Ann (Thomas Chester) Morgan, Michael Lawrence (Jennifer) Johnson, Lindsay Anne (Ryan) Anderson, Jessie Erin Jones, Christopher Allan ( Jessica Magriplis) Johnson and14 grandchildren. Surviving siblings include: (Kaye) Mary Kathleen (Jack) Huff, Don Baker Johnson and Jessie Lynn (Myron) Schoenfeld.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11a.m. in the Hobble Creek 4th Ward Chapel at 1440 E 900 S, Springville, UT. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville or Wed one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
