Gene L Mock

November 11, 1921 — February 6, 2016

Gene L. Mock passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday Feb. 6th in Sandy surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, Springville, Utah on Friday, February 12th at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

Gene lived in his home in Springville until this past year when he moved in with his son and wife, Kim and Lora Lea Mock.  Born November 11, 1921 in Provo, Utah to Julius and Judith Carson Mock.  Raised and schooled in Provo until after he met and married Norma June Gustin.   Gene served in the US Navy on the USS Nevada during World War II, receiving numerous medals of honor. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he went to work for US Steel at Geneva where he worked for 40 years before his retirement.  He enjoyed many activities with his wife and family; golfing, bowling, The Hobble Creek Riding Club, and traveling on motorcycle with The Wonderers and spending winters in St George in their home there.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints.

Gene will be remembered for his courage and integrity, his kind and gentle spirit, his love for everyone; and especially, in recent years, his little dog, Izzie.  Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, parents, Julius and Judith Mock and brothers and sister: LaVinia, Marcell, Elden, Vernal, and Bobby, and sons, Steven, and Randy Mock.  He is survived by his son, Kim (Lora Lea) Mock, Salt Lake City, Grandchildren; Lacey (Zack) Bell, Steven Grady Mock, Madeline Mock, Wendy (Dewain) Connelley, Tesha (Chris) Beavers, Brent (Barbara) Randall Mock, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great, great  grandchildren.  Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with full military rights.
