Gary LeRoy Greaves died unexpectedly at his home in Springville, Utah on June 14, 2014. Born in Boise, Idaho, March 18, 1939, Gary was the youngest child (and only son) of Cyrus and Dora Greaves. He was raised in San Diego, and upon graduation from Point Loma High School, he served in the United States Army in Germany.
Gary married Catherine Mary Andrew (from Aberdeen, Scotland) in 1969, and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS temple. Together they had three daughters - Caren (Todd) McLane, Billings, Montana; Cher Person, Sacramento, CA; and Cheryl (Kyle) Belnap, Phoenix, Arizona and eight grandchildren (Andrew, Mitchell, Avery, Callum and Bronwyn McLane and Marshall, Carson and Charlie Belnap). Garys children include Cindy Garza, Carie A. Greaves-Piccirillo, Curt William Greaves and Kristie Slater-Medina from a previous marriage.
Gary was a professional upholsterer, having created and owned Greaves Upholstery & Custom Interiors in San Diego, CA for thirty years. Fourteen years ago, Gary and Catherine moved to Springville, Utah where he worked for Coverstar. There, his expert upholstery skills were utilized in making pool coverings. He had been retired 10 days before his untimely passing.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus William Greaves and Dora McGregor Greaves. Surviving sisters are Marion Bench (Midvale, Utah) and Doreen Maxfield (South Jordan, Utah).
Gary will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his generous nature, and his devotion to family. His unconditional love for his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family will be his legacy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2pm at the LDS Ward Building, 2575 Dalton Drive, Springville, Utah. Viewing 1 -2 pm.
