Garlin Ray Hawkins, a long-time resident of Springville, Utah, passed away February 7th, 2022 at the age of 65.
Garlin is survived by his children; Jodi Cornwall (Kyle), Troy Hawkins (Allison) and four grandchildren; his siblings, Harold Hawkins, Mary Morgan, Garth Hawkins, Marvin Hawkins (Jamie) and Larry Hawkins (Cherice). He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ellen Hawkins and brother, Ardon Hawkins.
Garlin was born in Alamosa, Colorado on December 20th, 1956 to Arthur and Ellen Hawkins. He spent his early years in Colorado until serving for two years in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission. Garlin lived his young adult life with friends and family in Virden, New Mexico until moving to Utah where he lived the majority of his adult life. Garlin took pride in his work for ProSteel where he worked for nearly 30 years in various roles.
Garlin was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings in his life that allowed him to help and serve others. At any given time he could be found helping others with anything they needed including assisting on Sumsion’s Farm, caring for Leah Measom, or hauling anything that needed to be moved. Garlin’s greatest joys in life were his family, church, and his service to others. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to viewings held at Wheeler Mortuary on February 11th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at 350 N 400 E in Springville, on February 12th from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow the viewing on February 12th at 11:00 a.m. For anyone who is unable to attend in person, services will be broadcast via the zoom link below.
Garlin will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral service.
