Gale L Kresser

January 22, 1932 — December 3, 2008

Gale L. Kresser, 76, passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Kathy, near his side on December 3, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 22, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Louise Chatlain Kresser and Vernal "Bud" Kresser. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ruth Kresser Bailey of SLC, Utah. Gale is survived by one older brother, Vernal Kresser of Taylorsville, Utah, and by his wife, Kathleen Kresser, his three children, Steve (Tamy) Kresser, Douglas Kresser, and Cheryl Kresser Biggs; and also 5 grandchildren.



Gale was raised in SLC, Utah. He was married to Muriel Willey on January 15, 1951 and later they divorced. He was married to his current wife, Kathleen Coats Kresser on December 26, 1990.



Gale served his country with the US Army in the Korean War. He worked on the SLC Fire Department and was retired a Lieutenant after 24 years of service. He also worked as a bus driver for Nebo School District enjoying his route that took him up Hobble Creek Canyon every school day with a bus full of "his kids", retiring in May of 2007.



He was a member of the LDS Church, serving in various capacities.



He loved to make gifts for his friends with his woodworking skills, to travel, camp, and go fishing in the summers; and he was a huge fan of the BYU football team.



The family is very grateful for the loving care and service of the Vista Care Hospice team of nurses, aids, and counselors that were so helpful during the months preceding his death.



Friends may attend a viewing on Friday, December 5, 2008 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 12 noon in the LDS Church located at 555 South 600 East in Springville, Utah where friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery following the service.
