Floyd Anthon Swenson passed away peacefully on June 25, 2011. He was born in Spanish Fork, Utah to Elmer and Sylvia Swenson, and spent his younger years working on the family farm. After attending engineering courses at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, Floyd moved to Seattle where he met his best friend and eternal mate. He and Lorraine Sorensen Swenson were married on July 12, 1945 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They spent 59 wonderful years together until Lorraine passed away in May, 2004.
Floyd was a dedicated servant of the Lord and active member of the LDS church. He held many church callings in Seattle, including Bishop, Patriarch for the Seattle Stake, and Sealer at the Seattle Temple. He was also active in scouting, and was honored to receive the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America.
Floyd was also a talented aeronautical engineer. He worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle for over 40 years and worked on the design and management of several programs including the B-17, B-52, Saturn V booster, Moon Rover, and AWACS.
He always made time for his family and friends, and never failed to set an example for honesty and service. He is dedicated to his wife and family, and is survived by several family members including: daughter Janet; sons Paul (Shelly) and Curtis (Valerie); 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 29th at 11 a.m. at the Hidden Cove Chapel, located at 2379 E River Bottom Road, Springville, Utah 84663, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Provo, UT.
