Fern Maurine Lowery, 89, died July 12, 2012 in Riverton, UT.

Hello, if you're reading this it means that I have gone to be with my husband, other family members and friends. My name is Fern Maurine Gore Lowery. I was born in Camilla, Georgia on March 24, 1923 to Francis Adrian James and Arthur Benjamin Gore Sr. My family were Model T Pioneers and we traveled to Utah September 1923. I grew up in Springville graduating from Springville High School in 1941. In January 1942 I went to work Remington Arms in Salt Lake City, making bullets. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, I was able to accomplish two lifelong dreams: flying airplanes and when the Nurse Cadet Program came along I went to nursing school at LDS Hospital, graduating with my RN December 1946.

I met a handsome soldier by the name of Charles Benjamin Lowery, shortly after I entered by nurse training and we were married September 9, 1946. I worked at the LDS Hospital until we moved to Springville in 1951.

We enjoyed many good times with our family camping and traveling. Charles worked at Geneva Steel and I worked at Utah Valley Medical Center retiring in 1985 as Administrative Director of Nursing. My family has always been my pride and joy and has given me great happiness. I love the Gospel. I have always been active in the LDS Church. Being sealed to my husband, October 25, 1995 was one of the happiest moments of my life. His time was short, he died March 6, 2000.

I say goodbye to my children, Charles (Gayle) Phiffer, Mesquite, NV, Colleen Bagley, Spanish Fork, UT, Larry (Sherry) Lowery, Avon, UT, Dianna (Tony) Doty, Riverton, UT, Carl (Lisa) Lowery, Springville, UT. I also say goodbye to all my grandchildren and great grandchildren and my brother, James Gore, San Diego, CA.

I will be waiting for you, Love Mom & Grandma.

Maurine was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, A.B. Gore, Pearl Smith, Myrtice Pace, Ethelle Anderson, Wilford Gore and Joseph Gore.

We would like you to celebrate with us, the life of Maurine Lowery on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 355 East Center, Springville, UT. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
