Faye Austin, 81, passed away May 8, 2013 at her home after a courageous 23 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Faye was born May 23, 1931 in Mapleton, Utah to Harvey Alonzo and Vida Thayne Whitney, Jr. She was a graduate of Springville High School.

Faye married Joe Robinson in July 30, 1955 in Las Vegas, NV. They had three children: Diane, Richard, & Alan. They later divorced. Faye married John J. Hales on July 17, 1971 in Springville, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. John died in April 1985. Faye then married Victor C. Austin on Feb 13, 1988 in Provo, Utah. Vic died in July 2010.

She was a firm believer in hard work and dedication to the job. During much of her adult life, she worked two jobs simultaneously. She started her career shortly after high school in 1948 working as a bookkeeper at Friels' Furniture Store in Springville. She worked there until they closed their doors in 1977. She also worked full time at BYU in the Financial Services and Payroll Department, retiring there after 35 years of service. For 29 years she was a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Utah Valley Regional Hospital at the front information desk, she was awarded her 9,500 + hours of volunteer service award earlier this year.

She was known for her quilting. She spent many hours quilting at the Springville Senior Citizen Center and at the Utah State Hospital. She had made numerous quilts and crocheted afghans that she has gifted to others over the years.

She is preceded in death by her husbands' John Hales and Victor Austin, her parents, sisters Thelma Bunker and Shirley Nibley. She is survived by her children: Diane (David) Child, Mapleton; Richard J. (Patty) Robinson, West Jordan; Alan H. (Betty) Robinson, Springville. Ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Siblings: JoAnn (Lee) Davis, Provo and Douglas L. (Diane) Whitney, Springville.

The family would like to send sincere appreciation to the following: Dr Cordell Bott & Dr Jay Clark and their staff. To Dr Gary Garner and Intermountain Hospice and their incredible dedicated staff. For the loving care provided by Debbie & Zoila from Careminders Home Care in her last days. And to her wonderful neighbors and friends who so diligently checked on her and provided their friendship & comfort to her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday May 13, 2013 in the Springville 2nd Ward, 1785 East 400 South, Springville. Friends may call on Sunday, May 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
