Fawn Cowan Hales, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on July 30, 2007, at the age of 95. She was born September 12, 1911 in Payson, Utah. Her parents were Loretta Alice Lewis and John Mitchell Cowan. Fawn was the tenth and last surviving child.

After graduating from Payson High School and attending Brigham Young Academy, she married Angus S. Hales of Spanish Fork, Utah. They were married on June 30, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In June they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary; quite an accomplishment.

The Hales' lived in Spanish Fork for 33 years and moved to Springville in 1966. Fawn was a great support to her husband who was a farmer and cattleman. She was a great homemaker; taking care of her six children and caring for ten foster children. Many enjoyed her delicious candy and the beautiful afghans she crocheted for her family. Fawn loved to read and was blessed with a keen memory, reciting scriptures, songs, poems, and readings with clarity and total recall.

Fawn served with great joy in many church callings in all auxiliaries. She served as P.T.A. President at Spanish Fork Jr. High. She also belonged to the Aglaian Literary Club in Spanish Fork for over fifty years. In Springville she joined several organizations, including the Ladies Home Cultural Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Sierra Bonita Camp, and the Daughters of the American Revolution charter member of Bear River Chapter and member of Wasatch Range Chapter. She was employed at the Utah State Hospital for many years.

Fawn is survived by her husband Angus S. Hales, three sons, Glade Cowan (Farres Diamond), Las Vegas, Nevada; J Allen (Kirstine Keel), Springville; and Lynn Ray (Sharon Horne), Spanish Fork; three daughters, Loretta (Melvin) Ricks, Bonsall, Calif; Marilyn (Mark) Bushman, Pleasant Grove and June Alvord (the late Steve Alvord), Glendale, Calif; thirty four grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren, and one sister in law Marian Hales, Spanish Fork.

Fawn will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered as a peacemaker and honored for her unselfish and gracious life.

A special thank you is extended to Comfort Care Hospice for their kindness and loving care of Fawn.
