F. Owen Pendleton

Fay Owen Pendleton, 84, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at his home in Springville, Utah. He was born March 5, 1923, in Beaver, Utah, to Harriet Edwards and B.F. Pendleton. The family moved to Provo before Owen started school where he completed his education in the Provo schools. He joined the Navy, with his mother's signature, the day after Pearl Harbor, and fought World War II in the Pacific Theater.



He married Betty Evans, May 26, 1945. After the war he worked as a miner with Kennecott. He later worked in heavy construction in Southern Utah, Pennsylvania, Greece, Chili, and Australia. He joked that he knew how to dig good holes. After his official retirement he worked at Deseret Meat Company, and ran a saw sharpening shop.



Owen was known for his patience, his love for children and people, his interesting stories, and his large dogs. He and Betty opened their home to nieces and nephews who needed a place to stay and treated them royally. One of his nieces wrote, "When I go to Uncle Owen and Aunt Betty's house, I always know I am loved. He is my favorite uncle because I know he really cares for me." Owen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served in numerous callings.



Owen leaves behind his wife Betty, a son Frank, a grandson Shawn Owen, Kelly, and two great-grand sons, Shawn Kelly, and Kai Thomas, Shelby Township, Michigan. He is also survived by his sisters, Beth Newren, Bountiful; Marintha Irwin, Napa, California; Dorinne Morgan, Denver, Colorado; a brother Lynne Pendleton Payson; daughter-in-love Kim Wills, Las Vegas, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews. Owen's sisters Carol Blair, and Enid Martin, and brother Frank Pendleton preceded him in death.



Services will be held at the Kolob Stake Center, 1230 S. 500 E. Springville, Utah at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 18th. Viewing one hour before the services. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
