Evelyn Reed Robbins was born October 26, 1922 in Sanford Colorado to Ralph Whitney Reed and Mary Lucille Martain, and to a big brother, Ralph. She finished her journey on earth January 18, 2017 while surrounded by loved ones. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. She lived absolutely faithfully to the very end of her 94 years. She grew up in Springville, Utah, attended school there, and graduated from Springville High School.
After graduation she attended Brigham Young Academy, then worked at Hill Field during World War II. She often talked fondly of those years. After the war, she met, fell madly in love, and married Joshua Grant Robbins in the Logan Temple on May 26, 1947. They settled in Springville where they raised their family.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, where she served faithfully in many callings. Including, Stake Relief Society President, and Stake Primary President. She also loved serving in the Provo Temple where she was a coordinator for a time. Her most cherished role was being a wife, a mother and Grandmother. Throughout her life she demonstrated a true capacity of service, generosity, commitment, and love and devotion to her family. She truly was an inspiration to her family and friends.
Evelyn played the clarinet during her high school years, loved to read and was blessed with a very active and alert mind her whole life. She enjoyed cooking, was an excellent chef, and loved cooking for others. She was an accomplished pianist and avid reader. She loved going to porcelain class and made beautiful pieces, which she shared with her children. She worked for many years at BYU, as an executive assistant to the Director of Counseling Services and to the Dean of Students. Evelyn loved throwing parties for family and wanted to make sure everyone was there.
Evelyn was preceded in death and is now joyfully reunited with her sweetheart Grant, her parents, two brothers, Ralph and Mart, and a sister, Zelma. She is survived by her brother James Reed, (Carol), and her 5 children, Marianne Baker (Steven), Barbara Clarke (Duane), Lynn G. Robbins (Jan), Reed Robbins (Pat), Kay Banks (Jeff), 29 Grandchildren, 72 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 am, in the LDS Chapel located at 555 South 600 East, Springville, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday evening January 22, 2017, from 6-8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah and Monday morning 9-10:30 at the Chapel.
Interment Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
