Evan LeRoy Chidester

June 20, 1929 — June 16, 2012

Evan LeRoy Chidester, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather returned to our Heavenly Father June 16, 2012. He was born June 20, 1929 in Richfield Utah to David LeRoy and Ellen Sophia Jensen Chidester.

He was the youngest of a six children, with five older sisters. He spent his boyhood days hunting and fishing; roaming between the red hills of Richfield and the mountains around Fish Lake.

He married Elsie Fern Ferguson April 15, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple September 29, 1962.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved doing stake missionary work as a Seventy in the Kolob Stake, baptizing many new members. He worked with the youth as a scoutmaster for over 15 years.

Evan was always a kind, gentle, loving man of service. He was always found sacrificing his time and resources for others, especially his family.

As soon as he was able to drive there was never a day he was without his motorcycles. His Harleys and his Goldwings were the second love of his life. He and Fern rode together, with their club across the entire United States, visiting church history sites and traveling in Mexico and Canada.

Evan is survived by his wife, Fern, son David (Sharon) Chidester, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Daughters Victoria Nelson, of Springville, Utah; Rosemary (Aaron) Jolley of Orem Utah; nine grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren. His sister Barbara Mickleson of Kearns Utah.

Special thanks to Alpha Health and Hospice, Adam Lennon, and our eternal gratitude to Luke Haws for his loving care of Evan in his last years.
