Eva Jean Stansfield Johnson Nielsen

Jean Stansfield Johnson, age 90 of Springville, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007 in Payson, Utah due to heart failure. She was born June 6, 1917 in Goshen, Utah to William Henry Stansfield and Eva Lillian Nelson. She married David Rowe on June 6, 1937 and they later divorced. She married John R. Johnson on September 15, 1955. He preceded her in death. Jean then married Reed Nielsen. They also divorced.



Jean attended school in Goshen. After she was married, she lived in California and Arizona. While living in California, she taught handicapped children for years. She moved back to Utah in 1988 and helped care for her sister. She was loved by the children in her neighborhood. They affectionately called her "Grandma Jean". She served in many church callings. She especially enjoyed being a greeter at the chapel doors. She loved to crochet and made many quilts for her grandkids. Jean was loved by everyone.



The family would like to thank all the girls at Canterbury Place who took care of her so well; her dear friend, Joyce Cottom and all her good friends and neighbors.



She is survived by her brother, Boyd (Lila) Stansfield of Goshen; step-children: Jack (Beverly) Johnson of Fontana, CA; Betty Mestas of Corona, CA; Carol Nielsen of Springville and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Mildred Branagan, Beth Hickman, Inez Peterson and Madge Salisbury; brother, Jack Stansfield and many nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 1440 East 900 South in Springville. There will be a viewing held at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Goshen City Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
