Erlene Schreiber Hodgkinson of Springville, age 81, was born 5 March 1934 in American Fork, Utah to Clyde Adelbert Schreiber and Bertha Olive Okey.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Erlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women's Program and with Single Adults. She also served as a worker in the in the Provo Temple and later as a temple organist. When she was a young woman she served a mission in Uruguay. Later in life she served missions in China and Virginia with her husband. They also taught English to Mayan school children in Guatemala. She was an important team member with her husband as he served as bishop of the Maplewood Ward, Houston, Texas, the bishop of the Kenner Ward, New Orleans, Louisiana and the Stake President of the New Orleans Louisiana Stake.
Employment took her to Dugway, Utah, San Francisco and San Diego, California. After marriage she worked in Iowa City, Iowa and Tyler, Texas. She then began giving piano lessons and has taught in Houston, Calgary, New Orleans and Springville. She taught piano for over 50 years.
Erlene is survived by her husband Kenneth Allred Hodgkinson and her children: Heather (Keith) Conley of Lindon, Kenneth David (Cate) Hodgkinson of Lehi and 7 grandchildren.
Friends may meet for graveside services near the Veterans Memorial on the west side of the American Fork Cemetery on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2 p.m.
