He grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High. He spent his summers on a ranch in Montana owned by his Uncle and Aunt, Don and Helen Sims. After high school, he graduated from Snow College. There he met his eternal sweetheart, Cynthia Thompson, and married her August 10,1972, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They raised their 6 kids in Springville, Jennifer (Brian) Mills, Jonathan (Stephanie) Giles, Jeremy (Michelle) Giles, Jackie (Joel) Burkhart, James (Stacey) Giles, and Jeffery (Anna) Giles. They have 20 grandkids.

He started his career with IFA holding various positions including, Dairy Equipment Manager. In 1981, he left IFA and started his own business, Giles Dairy Service. For the next 35 years owning this business, he was able to teach his kids the value of hard work and touch the lives of many people in the dairy industry.

He loved to be with his family. He would take them fishing, to their family cabin, and having family barbeques in a pavilion he had built behind the business. He loved to have water fights with his kids and later with his grandkids. In the last 10 years, he was learning how to garden and loved to grow tomatoes. He would take Harley rides with his wife and his brother all over Utah and a few trips throughout the west.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings including: Ward Clerk, Stake Mission Presidency, Ward Mission Leader, Executive Secretary, Bishopric Member, Stake High Council Member, and Temple Ordinance Worker. He loved the Lord and knew there was a plan for him.

He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, his brothers Fred (Jeane) Giles and David (Darlene) Giles, his Aunt Helen Sims, and his Father-in-Law Jimmie Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Don Sims, and his Mother-in-Law Beverly Thompson.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Progressive Care Unit and Oncology Floor of UVRMC, and Aspen Ridge Rehab Center for their wonderful care of our husband and father.
