1923~2014
Ellen Margaret Larson Roberts Welsh passed away, Thursday, November 20, 2014 in Provo, Utah. She was born June 20, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Israel Tycko and Ellen Laura Johansson Larson. She was a first-generation American and very proud of her Swedish ancestry. She moved with her parents to Springville, Utah, when she was six months old and lived there all her life.
She loved two men during her lifetime: James Stanley Roberts whom she married August 30, 1941. They had four children: Ronnie Roberts, Jan (Michael) Groneman, Jeffrey McIntyre Roberts, and Kirk (Cay) Larson Roberts. They later divorced in August, 1961.
She then married William J. Welsh, Jr., May 4, 1968, and they divorced in March, 1980
Mom worked as a secretary to the superintendent of Utilities at Geneva Steel, during World War II; secretary to the Utah County Auditor and later as secretary to the manager of Mountain Fuel Supply, Provo Division.
She was a devoted and dependable wife, mother, and grandmother, and had close-knit lifelong friendships. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially loved her and she had a fondness for them.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Margaret held callings in the Sunday School and Relief Society. She was active in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce; past-president of the Hafen-Dallin Club; past-president of Utah County Cosmopolitan Club and several Bridge and luncheon clubs. She was a proud member of the Democratic Party and attended the 1960 Los Angeles National Convention which elected John F. Kennedy. She was thrilled when she met President Kennedy and spoke often of that time.
She is survived by two of her children Jan (Michael) Groneman and Kirk (Cay) Roberts of Springville, 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Ronnie Roberts, and her son, Jeffrey McIntyre Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at the LDS Stake Center at 350 N 400 E in Springville. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville and Tuesday at the church prior to services from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret has requested that donations be made to the Utah State Hospital Forgotten Patient Christmas Project.
