Ella Rasmussen Paxton Sheffield Naylor

February 18, 1921 — March 6, 2009

Ella Rasmussen Paxton Sheffield Naylor, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 6, 2009 at her beloved Springville home, surrounded by her children. Ella was born February 18, 1921 in Fillmore, UT to Harris & Juel Callister Rasmussen. She received her early education in Fillmore.

Ella married her high school sweetheart Ellsworth Uriel Paxton in Beaver, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple. Ellsworth was called into service during WW II. They were blessed with 6 children. Ellsworth passed away in 1960. She then met and married a wonderful man, Erwin Sheffield. With the blended family of Ella's 6 children and Erwin's 5 children they made a perfect dozen when their baby daughter, Julie arrived. Erwin passed away in 1980. Ella then met and married Marv Naylor of Springville. They enjoyed traveling across the USA together visiting each of the LDS temples in the states. They enjoyed living in St. George during the winter, serving as workers in the St. George temple. Marv passed away May 28, 2008. Ella was a resident of Springville for 46 years.

As one of our Heavenly Father's most precious daughters, she fulfilled one of her greatest desires to be the mother of seven beautiful children. Our mother found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren. Ella was a grandmother to 34 grandchildren, 97 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

Mother was an intelligent and talented woman and had a great love for her Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many church callings, and had the special gift of communicating her love of the gospel with those to whom she served. Her legacy of faith and service left an impact on all who knew her. Mom was a wonderful seamstress and used this talent making beautiful clothing, quilts and baby blankets for her children and grandchildren. As a young woman she won first place in the state "Make it with Wool" contest. Her children and many others were beneficiaries of her wonderful cooking and candy making.

Ella is survived by her children: Gail (Carolyn) Paxton, Paul (Denece) Paxton, Sherry (Mike) Lyman, Linda (Bill) Livingston, Glenys (Jon) Perrero, Duane (Ann) Paxton, Julie (Tim) Thurman, Fay (Bob) Pennock, Nan (Phil) Harrison, Jim (Lynda) Sheffield, Laurie (Dennis) Brown and John (Alana) Sheffield. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Lavon Nuttall, Gloria Staheli and Hope Prestwich and 2 brothers, Mark Rasmussen and Wayne Callister. She was preceded in death by parents; 2 brothers, Dean and Duane Rasmussen; 2 grandchildren, Jeffery Lyman and David Sheffield; 2 great grandchildren, Lucee Jones and Mason Lyman and one step-daughter, LaRene Peay.
