"Together Forever"
Eleanor York Thorn, 93 of Springville, Utah, passed away on June 25th due to natural causes. She was born in Leland, Utah on October 28, 1919 to Gilbert Dean York and Della Littlefield York. She was raised and lived in Spanish Fork until her marriage to Bernell H Thorn on August 24, 1946 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
Eleanor was a feisty woman and loved life. Her passion was her family and she always looked forward to family events. She loved to travel, and be in the outdoors. She and Bernell explored the western states and Canada in their truck and camper. She loved to fish and ski. She enjoyed raising Arabian Horses and the annual trip to the Scottsdale horse show. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in education. She taught elementary school children in the Price, and Provo School Districts for 40 years. She loved her school "kids" and many have come to visit her over the years. She and Bernell served an LDS Mission in Cass Lake, Minnesota serving the Chippewa Indians and helped re-establish a seminary program there. She was a great example of love, patience, endurance, spirituality, humor, and hope.
She is survived by her three sons, John P. Thorn of Victor, ID; Kirk B. Thorn (Debbie) of Mapleton, UT; and Kim Y. Thorn (MaryLu) of Draper, UT, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grand children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters: Ruby Swenson and Grace Johnson, and one great-grand child Ashleigh Silkman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 840 S. 400 E., Springville with a viewing being held one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
