Elda Singleton Hoyt, age 75, of Springville, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009. She was born November 5, 1934 in Springville, Utah to Elden LeRoy and Thurza Vera Singleton. She married Robert Vine Brown and they were later divorced. Elda later married Kenneth J. Hoyt October 15, 1983 in the Provo LDS Temple. He preceded her in death November 27, 1992.
Elda earned an associates degree in bookkeeping and worked for 35 years in that profession. Elda's greatest accomplishment was raising her 3 sons as a single parent. She was a talented quilter and blessed the lives of many family members with her quilts. She loved roses and doll collecting.
Elda had a love of people and opened her home to many in need. She also lovingly cared for her sister, Ann Singleton, for the last 10 years. Some of her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Craig (Dottie) Brown, Edward (Terry) Brown, Jon (Janice) Brown; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Verd, Afton, Gwen, Richard and Ann. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Roger, Irene and Rena.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 355 E. Center Street in Springville. There will be a viewing held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
