Edith DePriest O'Barr Parker

January 19, 1918 — March 4, 2008

Edith DePriest O'Barr Parker, born January 19, 1918, in Manassa, CO, died March 4, 2008, in Orem, Utah.

She lived a long, full life, recently celebrating her 90th birthday. She was the last living member of her immediate family, preceded by her parents, Heber and Mabel, brother, Vaughn, and two sisters, Opal and Mary. She leaves a son, Gerald L. O'Barr, who lives in San Diego, CA, with his wife Kathleen; and a daughter, Colleen Petersen of Orem. She has 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Edith married Augustus Barto O'Barr, of Mesa, AZ, in 1935, and raised her family there. They worked in the Mesa temple and served two LDS missions, one to Arkansas and Oklahoma, and another to the London Temple, where Gus passed away in 1980. She married Raymond Parker in 1986 and was with him until he passed away in 2006.

Edith was a very beautiful woman, the smartest in her high school class, and an active member of the LDS church. She was an outstanding pianist, and used this talent throughout her life. She was a most perfect mother, who guided her

children by revelation, love and tenderness.

Mother's last several months were not happy times. Outliving her siblings and both of her husbands, she was never really able to adjust to the loneliness that came into her life. But the reunions on the other side will be great! We will miss her sensitive feelings and deep love for each of us.

A viewing will be held at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville on Friday, March 7, 2008 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held March 11, 2008 at the Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa, AZ where Edith will be buried alongside Gus at the Mesa City Cemetery.
