Earl Alvin Nielson

December 1, 1919 — April 26, 2009

Earl Alvin Nielson passed away peacefully and quietly on Sunday April 26th at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah. Earl has been a resident at North Canyon since the first of the year. As his family, we are greatly saddened to not have him with us, but feel the calm and peace of knowing his spirit is yet alive and freed from his frail and worn body.

The 2nd of four children, Earl was born to James Clarence and Elda Peterson Nielson in Mapleton Utah on December 1, 1919. Earl learned to be a carpenter like his Dad. He grew up in Springville, graduated from Springville High School and attended LDS Business Collage. Earl enlisted in the Navy to answer the call from a Country at war and serviced in the South Pacific as a carpenters mate.

After the war he returned to Springville where he met Billie Morgan from Mankato Minnesota. Earl was hooked from the start. On May 12, 1949, Earl and Billie were married and later sealed for time and eternity in the Provo Utah, LDS Temple. Over the next few years their little family was blessed with three wonderful children.

Earl worked at Morrison Knutson for many years as a project superintended. Eventually they settled in his home town of Springville to raise their family. Earl went to work for his brother building homes all over Utah County and the state. After retiring he found a new career in the oil fields of Wyoming. In 1982 they moved to Evanston Wyoming where he worked for an additional 10 years.

Earl loved to hunt and fish. One of his greatest joys was fishing or hunting with Billie and a second joy would be with anyone else that would go with him.

Earl is survived by His children, Michael Nielson, Marilyn (Rick) Pettingill, Daniel (Karen) Nielson, Sister LaRhea Twelves, 7 Grandchildren, and one great grandson. Preceded in death by his Parents, his beloved Wife Billie, daughter in law Joann Nielson and brothers J. Grant Nielson and Orin T. Nielson.

The funeral will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 2nd at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT 84663 with a viewing one hour before the funeral. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, UT.
