Dr. Clyde Duane Larsen passed away peacefully on June 8, 2009, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. The son of the late Clyde "W" Larsen and Myrtle Henderson Larsen, Duane was born on February 20, 1935, in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah, in 1953, and attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University. Beginning in 1955, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New York. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Utah, Dr. Larsen moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to perform his residency, followed by a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the University of California, San Francisco. He stayed in the Bay Area, maintaining a private pediatrics practice in San Jose for over 25 years. Dr. Larsen devoted his life to serving his community, family and God. He will be remembered and missed by his four children, Eric, Dirk, Jed and Erin, his five grandchildren, his many surviving relatives and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1336 Cherry Avenue in San Jose, California.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 S. 400 E. in Springville. There will be a viewing prior to the services from 11:00 to 12:30 at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 W. 400 N. in Mapleton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the children's hospital or charity of the donor's choice.
