July 28, 1953 — July 31, 2023

Springville

Douglas Alan Cooper passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 31, 2023 - his sweet Angel Granddaughter Claire’s 7th Birthday.

Doug was born July 28,1953 to Cecil Walter and Francis Olive Grant Cooper in LaGrande, Oregon. In the sixth grade he got Rheumatic Fever and was ill for six months, spending three months in the hospital. There he developed his interest in art and realized his amazing artistic talent.

In 1978 he moved to Provo and met the love of his life - Denise Lundell.  They were sealed in the Manti LDS temple on December, 7th 1979 and were married for close to 44 years.  Doug was a kind and caring person and always made you feel loved and welcome.

His love of clothing and fashion started when his Uncle Ray hired him to work and model for Gordon's Men's Clothing store in The Dalles, Oregon and Burgess Clothing in LaGrande, Oregon.

Doug loved all sports and even threw a no-hitter when he was 14 years old.  He was great at basketball and enjoyed playing with his sons through the years. Doug was proud to coach his sons through many winning church basketball seasons. He enjoyed cheering for the Utah Jazz, BYU Cougars, and the New York Yankees.  He found a love for golf from his father-in-law and best buddy, Roy Lundell.

Doug attended Eastern Oregon State College and BYU. He also attended his Aunt Norma’s hair styling school, Gem College, in Ontario, Oregon.  Doug loved nature and spent three months working as a landscaper in Hawaii, which is why he always had a beautiful yard. He loved hiking and camping and drives in the mountains.

Doug was the Manager of Royal Formal Wear and Clarks Tuxedos before he was able to open his own tuxedo shop, DC Tuxedos, in Provo, Utah.  He loved being a business owner and loved helping others by donating and discounting when he could.  He met so many interesting people through the years who he called his friends.  He kept in contact with many young employees that he influenced as well.  He sold his business after 23 successful years when he started having health issues.

Doug is the father to five incredible sons:  Collin Douglas Cooper, Matthew Royce Cooper, Cameron McCall Cooper, Taylor McKay Cooper, and Corbin Grant Cooper. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings from High Priest to Primary teacher.  His favorite callings were Home Teacher and serving in the Bishopric at a BYU student ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Walter Cooper and Francis Olive Grant, his son Cameron McCall Cooper, his granddaughter, Claire Allie Lynn Cooper, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy and Carol Lundell.

He is survived by his wife, Denise, sons Collin Douglas, Matthew Royce (Tracy), Taylor McKay, and Corbin Grant, his grandchildren Camden, Elsie, Addy, Hayes, and Emma, and siblings Mary Cooper Ganschow (Don), Ronald Cooper, and Dennis Cooper (Debbie) We will all miss him very much.
