Dorothy Mae Williamson Damico died September 14, 2010 of natural causes. At the time of her death she was living at the home of her grandchildren Darcy and Mary Halvorson, Springville.
She was born September 7, 1916 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Hans and Ida Elnora Christiansen Williamson. She was the fifth of seven children. She grew up and attended school in Pleasant Grove.
She married James Albert Damico on October 17, 1938 in Provo, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 10, 1958. They lived in American Fork, San Francisco and then settled in Springville where they owned and operated the Tip Top Shoe Repair for many years.
Dorothy lived a life time of service. She was a 4-H leader, member of Springville Ladies Lions Club and member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was an active member in her church serving mostly in the primary. She had fond memories of the many trips made by her and Jim to the Manti temple with friends. Her passion was teaching the young Boy Scouts which she did for more than 50 years. She has made and given away 1000s of neckerchief slides to boys through the years. She had so many happy memories of roundtable, Woodbadge, Philmont and most of all working along side of the boys. She received scouting's highest council award, the Silver Beaver, in April 1978.
Dorothy also loved making dolls. She spent hours making dolls and her favorite part of completing one was the joy of giving it away. She repaired and dressed many dolls for the Sub for Santa program. She loved attending the annual doll conferences with family members.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband James Albert Damico, daughter Karen Irene Damico, infant son James Arnold Damico, her parents and siblings: Mary Elnora (Pret) Gray, Maynard Paul (Rose), Loraine, Clara Pauline (Ray) Houtz and Stanley Ted (Ann).
She is survived by daughter Bonnie Jean Sorensen (Fred) Mesquite, NV, brother Richard (Nancy) Williamson American Fork, Navajo daughter Wilma Adams Arizona, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grand children, one great-great grand daughter and a few very special friends whose visits would light up her day.
Funeral Services will be held Monday September 20 at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel 355 East Center Street Springville. A Viewing will be held Sunday September 19 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South Springville and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
