October 9, 1920 – August 31, 2018
Dorothy Anderson Wiscombe, age 97, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father, in the early morning Friday August 31st, 2018 surrounded by her children. She almost made it to the age of 98 and not far away from her goal to live to be 100 years old. She was born October 9th, 1920 in Salt Lake City to Thomas and Lydia Berneice Anderson. She was the oldest of 3 children.
She grew up in Salt Lake City where she met the love of her life, Edward Keith Wiscombe. Before being married she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Southern States Mission. Upon returning they were married on March 17th, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.
They moved to New York to fulfill military responsibilities, then returned to Salt Lake City, UT. A few years later they moved to Spanish Fork, UT. and then to Mapleton UT., starting their dream of having a beautiful home on a farm to raise their family on.
Dorothy loved being a homemaker, serving her family and all that knew her. If you knew her, you knew you were loved. She enjoyed sewing, baking, canning and reading. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving her Heavenly Father through many church callings. She especially loved serving in the Relief Society and visiting teaching programs. She had a love for genealogy and family history and enjoyed participating in The Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP). She was born a city girl but was willing to become a farm girl, even when it meant driving tractor or chasing animals that escaped.
Dorothy is preceded in death and greeted on the other side by her loving husband, son Brent, daughter-in-law Shirlene, two grandchildren Daryl Peay and Jared Staheli, her parents and her brother and sister.
She is survived by and missed by her children Edward M. Wiscombe, Sharon Ann (Neil) Peay, Shauna (Bill) Staheli and daughter-in-law Robin Wiscombe. She is also loved by 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
