Dorothy Weight Stewart, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on September 7
th
, 2013.
Dorothy was born in Springville, Utah on December 28, 1924 to Ernest G. Weight and Belva Diamond and was a lifetime resident of Springville. She graduated from Springville High School in 1943. In 1944 she married Alan Ray Stewart. They had 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Dorothy and Alan had a rich life together and felt blessed to be able to travel and see much of the world.
Dorothy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and held many positions within the church including Relief Society President, Chorister, and Stake Primary Secretary. Dorothy had a beautiful singing voice and was able to use her gift to bring joy to many people. She was a member of Singing Mothers, the Musettes and also gave comfort through singing at many funerals throughout the decades. She was a member of the Companions Club for 67 years and had a close group of friends whom she loved and stayed connected to up until her death.
Dorothy held jobs at Geneva Steel and Grant Elementary School and was a devoted mother and home maker. She loved the aesthetics of life including a love for classical music, cultivating beautiful roses, and decorating her home. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed most of the clothing for her children for many years. Dorothy was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her son Lynn, daughters Karen (Larry Meyers), Jane, and her brother Roger Weight. She is preceded in death by her husband Alan, son Les, her sister Phyllis W. Crowder and brothers Creed, Kae, and Vernon Weight, and grandson Cameron Meyers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13
th
at 11:00a.m. at the Springville Stake Center, 245 South 600 East, Springville. Family and friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville on Thursday evening 6 until 8p.m. or Friday at the Stake Center from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
