Dixie Jones Pyne

d. November 5, 2012

1937 ~ 2012

Our cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dixie Jones Pyne, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2012, surrounded by those who loved her deeply. We take comfort in the knowledge that she has surpassed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home in a place of serenity.

Dixie was born in Springville, Utah on October 8, 1937 to Richard H. Jones and Alice Snow Jones. She married William LaMar Pyne on May 3, 1955. LaMar passed away tragically on March 2, 1975, after which Dixie heroically raised and nurtured her six children by herself. Dixie is also preceded in death by her parents and her sons William "Bill" Pyne and Kevin Lee Pyne, as well as her sister Kate and her brother Bob.

During the time we spent with Dixie, she touched our lives and her presence is a gift we will always be thankful for. She was a voracious reader and a kind and utterly generous person. She was known for her kindness, intelligence, and humor. We will always cherish her memory and want to thank her for everything she did and was. She simply loved unconditionally.

Dixie and LaMar created a large and enduring family. Their surviving children are Susan Harward, Allen Pyne, Valerie (Dale) Archuleta, Karen (Mike) Willis, and Jared Pyne. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie (Mickel) Sharp, Kristen (Sterling) Parker, David Pyne, Kevin Pyne, Thomas Archuleta, Kara (Johnny) Riddle, Brandon Willis, and Hunter Willis. Her great grandchildren are Kaiya Sharp, Teague Sharp, Atticus Parker, Lincoln Archuleta, Marina Riddle and Nash Riddle. She is also survived by her sisters Evalyn Dansie and Geraldine Lowe, as well as a large and loving extended family.

Viewings will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, on Sunday, November 11, from 6-8 pm, and on Monday, November 12 from 10-10:45 am. Services will be held at 11 am at the same location. Interment in Springville Cemetery.
