Dianne (Bills) Wittusen

November 4, 1945 — March 16, 2019

Dianne Bills Wittusen passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on March 16, 2019.  She sustained a ruptured brain aneurysm while on vacation with her husband and friends in Rocky Point, Mexico, one of her favorite places.

Dianne was born on November 4th, 1945 in Provo, Utah to Douglas and Lenore Bills, and she was the youngest of 7 children.  She grew up in Mapleton, attended Springville High School, and graduated in 1964 where she made many lifelong friends.  Never afraid of an adventure, she moved to San Francisco in 1966, where she met Ron Wittusen; they married on May 21st, 1971.  Shortly afterwards they relocated to Utah.  She was an active community member, working as the Mapleton City Treasurer for 20 years before retiring in 2006.  She sang in the Mapleton Chorale, played the organ and piano for the Mapleton 1st Ward, and was a member of many quilting groups.  Dianne loved to travel, especially in their RV, and made new friends everywhere they went.  The choice to move from Mapleton in 2014 was not an easy one, but she looked forward to new adventures with her husband/partner in crime.  Dianne also loved gardening, celebrating holidays, reading, and cooking.  She made a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her.  She will be remembered for her laugh and smile, her positive outlook, intellectual curiosity, witty sense of humor, and excitement for life.

She is survived by her husband Ron, her children:  Andy (Michelle), Brad, Troy (Michelle Levandoski), and Courtney Hopkins (Andrew); her grandchildren:  Joshua, Zachary, Alex, Otis, Dane, Camille, Liberty, Aiden, Woodrow, and Waylon; her brothers Kay and Mac, and many more beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.  She is preceded in death by her parents:  Douglas and Lenore, and siblings:  Richard “Dick” (Erma Lee), Nadine Barnes, Patricia Haymond (Jay), and Teddy (Shirley).

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Historic Mapleton White Church (31 W. Maple St., Mapleton, UT).  The visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. MT followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. MT.  Please come and share a memory and celebrate her life that was well lived.

The Wittusen family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.  The tremendous care and compassion they showed for Dianne and her family is greatly appreciated.
