Dianne Gregersen Sparks, age 73, passed away at home on December 11, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family. Dianne was born to Fred and Frieda Gregersen in Banida, Idaho on May 24, 1937, and had many fond memories of being raised on the family farm. She married her eternal companion and loving husband of 50 years, John Mervin Sparks, on November 10, 1960 in the Logan Temple.
Mom loved being a member of the LDS church and had a strong testimony of its truth. She served as a YW leader, primary teacher, Stake Relief Society President, visiting teacher and achievement days leader. She was dedicated to humanitarian efforts and regularly invited her grandkids to join her in making hygiene, newborn and school kits and blankets. Mom and Dad served in the Rapid City, South Dakota Mission from 1998-1999. She was happiest when working with Dad in the Provo Temple, which they did for fifteen years.
Quilting was Mom's great talent and she could spend hours in a fabric shop planning her next creation. She made over one hundred quilts and entered many in the Springville Museum of Art Quilt Show winning several awards. She was an incredible homemaker and loved to can, bake and sew for her family.
Mom loved planning parties and having her family together for birthdays and holidays. She started several traditions that we will always treasure, including Halloween pumpkin carving, Valentine cookie decorating and building Christmas gingerbread houses. Mom's grandkids looked forward to these festive events. Any time they came to see her, they brought a smile to her face.
She is survived by her husband, six children: Kristeen (Marshall) Welch of St. George, Joe Sparks of Cleveland, ID, Amy (Mark) Wrathall of Riverside, CA, Jennifer (Justin) John of Springville, Denise (Jason) Eatough of Mapleton, Paul (Nicole) Sparks of Lake Shore and eighteen grandchildren: Dan, Hannah, Jorri, Damon, Madeline, Zach, Nathan, Nicholas, Katie, Kaden, Alex, Truston, Lucah, Thomas, Ryker, Levi, Lydia and Isaac. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and her grand-daughter, Abigail.
Mom, thank you for your example of love, faith and enduring to the end. We love you dearly and will miss you!
