Dewey Burgess
June 5, 1935 — May 8, 2011
Dewey "Duke" Burgess, age 75 of Spanish Fork, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011. He was born June 5, 1935 in Price, Utah to Nelton Arthur and Ruth Leavitt Burgess. He married Carma Beth Hartley on July 9, 1964 in Elko, Nevada and their marriage was later solemnized in the Atlanta Georgia LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in August of 2006.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a home teacher and high priest.
He is survived by his eight children: Albert (Linda) Wilcox, Jana Broadbent, Shirley Burgess, Harold Burgess, Cindy (David) Parvizi, David (Babette) Burgess, April (Joe) Finley, Vicki (Joe) Bennett; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Doan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Aspen Meadows 3rd Ward, 1661 South 1400 East, Spanish Fork. There will be a viewing held at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment with military rites by the American Legion will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
