Dean H Sampson was born October 26, 1943, in San Bernardino CA, the third child and second son of Charles I. and Thelma H. Sampson.

He moved with his family to Orlando FL in 1945. Then back to San Bernardino CA until 1949 when the family moved to Provo UT, where he attended elementary school - first at Timpanogos Elementary and then Wasatch Elementary. In 1957 the family moved to Samoa where his father had been called to serve as the Mission President of the Samoan Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended his junior and senior high schools in Pesega Upolu Samoa.

In 1961, he returned to Provo with his older brother, Douglas, and attended high school, graduating from Provo High in 1962.

He worked many different jobs, one of which led him to California where he met his first wife, Ivy Gondrez. They were later divorced. He was employed by RBG for a large portion of his working years, retiring in 2010.

He married Helen Nielson in 1998. She passed away 29 April 2012.

In 2017, with the help from his friend from Samoa, Joe Keil, Dean reconnected with his sweetheart, Floral Morell, from high school in Samoa. And after a short courtship, they were married in American Fork UT 15 December 2017 and later sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They moved to British Columbia where they lived until Flo passed away 9 September 2018.

He made many life-long friends throughout his life in every place he lived and worked. He especially enjoyed the company of some men from his Ward in Pleasant Grove, UT, meeting regularly with them for lunch after moving back to Utah.

He returned home to Utah, living in Springville until his death, November 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Douglas, a sister Elma, and brothers-in-law Richard Bartholomew and Tim Griffin. He is survived by his seven children: Kathleen, Karaleah (Tom), Kevin, Kurt, Amber (Isaac), Ashley, and Jacob; and several grandchildren. Also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Dixie (Russell) Harward, American Fork UT, and a sister Karen Griffin, Denver CO., and sister-in-law LeiMomi Sampson, Provo UT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
