Dean LaVar Ivie, 91, long time resident of Springville, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was born June 6, 1930 in Provo, Utah to Fay and Ethel Marrott Ivie. He married Dorothy Hansen on March 4, 1949. Their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1954.
Dean was the only boy in his family. When he got married, Dorothy’s four brothers, Duane, LaMar, Boyd & John, welcomed him into their family. He was very happy to have brothers. He loved the outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with the youth. He was a little league baseball coach, a scoutmaster, and he helped with the FFA livestock shows. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings and worked in the Provo Temple for seven years.
Dean is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ivie of Springville; his four children: Craig Ivie of Eugene, OR; Reese Ivie of Phoenix, AZ; Carolyn Brady of St. George; and Brent Ivie of Springville. He is also survived by his sister, Carma Brailsford of Springville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Holmes of Provo and his son, Kent Ivie of Springville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Springville 4th Ward Chapel located at 355 East Center Street in Springville. A viewing for friends and family will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 East 200 South, Springville and Saturday just prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
