Darryl Robert Heselton, our amazing son, brother, father and friend, returned home to his Father in Heaven and his brother Allan, nephew David and his grandparents Heselton and Jacobson. Darryl was surrounded in his last days and hours by his loving family.
Darryl was born November 26, 1955 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He lived in the Upton - Grafton area until his senior year, then moved to Orem, Utah. He graduated from Orem High School in 1973. Darryl was extremely active in band. He played clarinet and saxophone. He was a Cub and Boy Scout. He skied, rode his motorcycle, was a great swimmer, held a scuba diver license, climbed mountains, and repelled mountains. He loved life and all the activities. Darryl had a special fondness for flying and held a pilots license. We will miss his humor, intelligence and kindness.
Due to a severe accident at a young age, he was faced with heart problems, but it did not prevent him from obtaining two college degrees and teaching school. In 1976 he graduated from Dixie College in St. George, Utah with a Business Degree. Following his service as a full time missionary to Independence, MO from 1977 to 1979, he attended Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah until 1981. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He taught numerous high school classes including shop (his favorite, he said he had all the best tools and equipment. He made several beautiful furniture pieces for his home) art, English, history, library, and computer science. He taught computer science the last few years of teaching. He was a whiz on the computer. His family called him when computer consultants could not fix the problems. Darryl's positive attitude and faith brought him through many difficult challenges. His example of love, courage, perseverance, appreciation and patience is a great legacy to his posterity and to all who knew him.
He loved to travel to Massachusetts, England, Hawaii and Florida Disney World. He loved his trips to Disneyland in California with family and enjoyed cruises with beloved family members. He was planning a Massachusetts trip in July for his mother's 75th birthday. His friend Kerry Summers (an international entertainer) was to entertain her and the family.
Darryl loved his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ whom he called his 'Friend'. He was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in numerous positions and activities including Stake Financial Clerk, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Home Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Elders Quorum President. He loved attending the many temples and went several times per week with his special friend Raewyn.
Darryl is survived by his parents, Verne Heselton and Elizabeth Jacobson Bennett; five sisters: Deborah, Kristine, Beth, Ruth and Ashley and their families; and his beloved daughters: Melissa, Stephanie and Melody Heselton; and his numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
His brother Allan preceded him in death, his grandparents Jacobson and Heselton, his nephew David Foster and his half brother Eddie. Darryl has two remaining half brothers, one half sister, six step brothers, one step sister, his loved step dad Marlou Bennett, and his temple partner and love of his life Raewyn Pearsey.
Darryl's mother Elizabeth wishes to express her loving gratitude to Brian Peters, Darryl's long time Canadian friend of 27 years, for his friendship and with whom he stayed on his numerous trips to Canada.
