Darold Vernon Hiatt

Darold Vernon Hiatt, age 88, Springville, Utah died at home on March 10, 2009. He was born on September 24, 1920 in Marysville, Idaho to Joseph Walter Hiatt and Ada Vilate Hendricks. He married Margaret Edith Clayton on September 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Margaret preceded him in death September 18, 1991. He married Mary Peterson on April 16, 1994. She also preceded him in death December 20, 2004.



Darold served in the US Navy in World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rockhounding. He was a hard working and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served as a home teacher, temple worker and as a high priest.



Darold is survived by his four children: Clayton (Lynda) Hiatt of Sandy; Craig (Kathy) Hiatt of Payson; Edith (Mark) Wolf of Salt Lake and Mason (Susan) Hiatt of Springville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, four brothers, Larry, Mel, Ken and Zane Hiatt and one grandson Brian Hiatt. He is also survived by Mary's four children: Paul (Rosalind) Peterson of Orem, Garry (Carol) Peterson of Fairview, John (Lenore) Peterson of Salem and Nadine (Ray - deceased) Brown of Bountiful; 13 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hobble Creek West Stake Center located at 555 South 600 East (Averett Ave.) in Springville. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville or Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
