Born Daniel Rex Gull October 10, 1943 to Daniel Rulon and Dorothy Swasey Gull in Provo, UT, he died Friday, December 28, 2007. His grandparents, Ellis and Leona Swasey and his Aunt Colleen (Jensen) raised him in Mapleton. His other grandparents were Rulon and Midge Gull of Spanish Fork.
Rex was very intelligent, a jokester and street smart. He had a spiritual side that not everyone knew about. His heart was enormous, sometimes he didn't show it, but his greatest love in life was his family. He admitted to being a true Archie Bunker, sometimes gruff but with a BIG heart. He gave much to many and often recovered little in return, but he always said that it was okay.
Between the chemicals he worked with at KCC Refinery and smoking up until 15 years ago, he paid by not being able to breathe without his "nose", not being able to hunt, travel, visit with friends and many other activities he had enjoyed in the past. His message to give to his family and friends was to give yourself a gift - QUIT.
Rex married his childhood sweetheart Betty Jean Blackett, April 1960. They had a daughter (Dannette) and son (Daniel Shane).
January 1, 1970 he married Pat Luellen in Las Vegas; they had 4 daughters: Corrina, Trina, Bridget and Meagan. They remarried on July 24, 1998 in the Carson City Mint with family present.
On their last cruise from Montreal to Florida they went to the top of the Twin Towers (quite a feat considering he was afraid of heights). He traveled most of the USA but always felt he belonged in the Old West.
He was greeted by his wife Betty, Dad, Mom, both sets of grandparents, Colleen, brothers, Alan & Ricky, son Shane and daughter Meagan. What a reunion! Now he can hunt, fish, travel and enjoy all he had to give up in this lifetime. We will always love and miss U.
His wife Pat; daughters & love of his life, his grandchildren: Dannette (Robbie) Barrus (Stephanie, Brandon & Brett), Corrina (Darren) Healey (Sierra, Haley & Forest), Trina (Taber) Crockett (Alexis, McKayleigh, Jaxton & Ireland) and Bridget Singleton & son Brayden, Shane's son Daniel and foster daughter Trisha Hatch; brothers: Randy (Louise) Parry, Roger (Maxine) Parry survive him. He is waiting just beyond the moon for us.
Thank you to his doctors.
His graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., Jan. 2, 2008 in the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 S 400 E, Springville, UT, under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
