At the age of 73 our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed early Monday morning at his home in Mapleton with his wife of 50 years, Edna LaRae Strickland, by his side.
He was born in Grantsville, UT to Zelma Rose and John Stanley Castagno. Dale attended Utah State with a football scholarship He was a lifelong farmer, rancher, and family man. He was known for his pristine crops and excellent cow/calf operations. With his family by his side, he taught them hard work, ethics, and perseverance. The family owned and operated ranches in Tooele County, UT, Weiser, Idaho, Tremonton, UT, and a guest ranch in Jackson, Wyoming.
He is survived by his wife LaRae, sons; Stan (Jen), Steve (Niki), Ryan (Tracy), and Robert Bullcreek (Tina), and daughters; LuAnn (Thomi Barker) and Dian (Shaun Nelson), his 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and by his sisters; Loraine (Jim Oliver), Ella (Frank Santiago), and Donna (LeRoy Rose).
A viewing will be held April 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North Mapleton. The funeral will be April 17 at 11:00 am with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 at the Mapleton North Stake Center, 475 North 1600 West Mapleton. Dale will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Thanks to all who loved him and helped care for his many needs.
