Curtis Kay Ewing 76, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, Monday, March 8th, 2010. Born September 9th, 1933 in Springville, Utah he was the son of Harry Bernell and Leola (Curtis) Ewing.
He married Eunice Fletcher June 27, 1952 in Springville, Utah. They had two sons Michael Kay Ewing and Steven Fletcher Ewing. They taught their two boys to hunt and fish while enjoying the outdoors. Eunice preceded him in death in 1977. He later married Sue Ann Brown June 22, 1979 in Springville, Utah. At that time he welcomed Sue Ann's daughter Ta Marra Brown into the family. Sue Ann preceded him in death in 1991.
Curtis worked as an Operating Engineer for Thorn Construction; W.W. Clyde; Geneva Rock Products and Utah County. He traveled the state working on roads and construction projects throughout his life. He was involved with digging the ponds at Flowserve in Springville, Utah. He often found himself in Southern Utah and loved the beauties of the state. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed taking his sons into the mountains. His love of the outdoors has been passed onto his grandchildren.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his most treasured accomplishments was earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed teaching in the High Priest Quorum. He was sealed to Eunice and Sue Ann in the Provo Temple December 11th, 1999.
Later in life Curtis enjoyed traveling with the Springville City Senior Citizens. His friend and companion Kaye Roberts often accompanied him on his travel adventures, day to day activities and family gatherings. She is loved and considered to be part of our family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Bernell and Leola (Curtis) Ewing, his wives Eunice Fletcher Ewing and Sue Ann Brown Ewing; and his sister Helen (Platte) Watts.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Parkway Health Center, Utah Valley Specialty Hospital, Central Utah Medical Clinic and the many doctors, nurses and health care professionals who provided care and comfort to Curtis during his final struggles.
He is survived by his sons and daughter Michael Kay (Sharon) Ewing of Springville, Utah; Steven Fletcher (Sandra) Ewing of Springville, Utah; and Ta Marra Brown of West Jordan, Utah. He has ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects Friday, March 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13th at 11 a.m. at the Hobble Creek West 13th Ward Chapel, 555 South 600 East, Springville, Utah. Friends and family may pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
