Conrad Maag

Conrad Maag, 78, of Springville, died September 6, 2011 at UVRMC. He was born to Wesley Conrad and Lucille Pierce Maag on October 7, 1932 in Vineyard, Utah. He shared the same birthday as his father and grandfather.



He married Afton Gurr on April 9, 1955. Afton passed away October 8, 1989.



He lived most of his life in Springville, Utah. He served in the Korean war as a 1st Class Petty Officer on the Naval carrier "USS Boxer".



He worked for USX, retiring in 1987 after 31 years of service making steel in the open hearth.



Conrad loved the outdoors and spent countless hours studying and enjoying the geology of Utah.



He enjoyed photography and was an accomplished artist who created many beautiful oil paintings of landscapes and wildlife. These are greatly cherished by his children, family and friends.



Conrad is survived by one son and four daughters: Jeffrey (DaNece) Maag, Kathleen (Tom) Vernon, both of Orem, Utah; Annette (Eddie) Cragun of Blackcreek, Wisconsin; Mary (Peter) Succo of Eugene, Oregon; Margene (Mike) Jensen of Payson, Utah; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. There will be a viewing at the mortuary one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
