Clyde F. Mortensen (80) passed away peacefully at his home in Provo surrounded by his family on February 14, 2017. Clyde was born in Provo Utah to A.H. (Pink) and Maurine Mortensen. The second of seven children he was raised in Springville, Utah. He graduated from Springville High School where he was very active in sports. After high school, he served in the National Guard. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara Halverson, they had five children and later divorced.
Clyde followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Journeyman Plumber and a successful businessman. His outstanding skill and knowledge in the trade allowed him to teach all his boys how to be excellent Journeyman Plumbers. With his many talents, he could fix or build almost anything and excelled at everything he did.
Clyde was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and the numerous animals on his farm. The many dogs he owned over the years brought him immense joy. His hobbies included reading, exercising, crosswords puzzles and playing intense games of Scrabble.
After retirement Clyde and his wife, Darlene, bought land and started his beloved farm in Fairview, UT. Over the many years that they lived there the pond on his farm became home to thousands of different birds that he and Darlene hand fed daily. His farm brought him so much joy and happiness. He loved being able to share it with his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Clyde had a hilarious sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone's face. He was a giving soul and was willing to do anything for anyone, usually helping anonymously.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, brother Kenneth and sons Brandt and (Little) Todd.
He is survived by his siblings Paul (Wilma), Marilyn (Kenneth Warner), Jay (Marilyn), Robert (Sandy) and Carl (Vicky). His children Toni, Todd (Shelly), Jerry (Robin), Jed, Scott (Judy), Cheri', Brian (Miko), Matt (Lindie), Tonya (Jurij Czernow) and Chris (Shari).
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017, a visitation from 10:00-10:45 for friends and family. A funeral service 11:00 at the Wheeler Mortuary 211 E. 200 S. Springville. Graveside service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville. Luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Food and Care Coalition in Provo, Utah.
