Clarence B. Simmons, loving husband, father and grandfather, went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 7, 2010. To those who knew and loved him he was known as "Curley", a man who was filled with love and laughter. He was born March 29, 1927 to Charles Albert and Clella (Alexander) Simmons in Payson, UT. He married Renee Johnson Simmons August 18, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 63 years loving and caring for each other.
Curley was an accountant for 60 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. He spent the first 35 years of his married life in Whittier, CA, and then moved to Santa Maria, CA, where he live for 26 years. Upon retiring 4 years ago he moved to Mapleton, UT to live closer to his children. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served in many callings including those of Home Teacher, Bishop, Stake Presidency and Stake Patriarch. His sincere desire in life was to serve the Lord and obey His commandments.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, his seven children, Lark (Steve) Earnest, Debra (Kay) Heaps, Lynn (Arden) Hansen, Sherrie (Sam) Keele, Terrie (Brad) Critchfield, Jodie (Kelly) Campbell and Greg (Wendy) Simmons. His family also includes 39 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the White Church in Mapleton. Friends and family may call Thursday evening, June 10, 2010 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North, Mapleton, Utah or Friday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites.
