Springville

With profound love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Christine Hiatt Johnson, 73, of Springville, Utah, who left this world peacefully on October 10, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family at her home. Born on November 23, 1950, in Payson, Utah, Christine was the daughter of Dean Luther Hiatt and Luva Dawn Schaugaard Hiatt.

Christine's childhood was spent in various states before returning to her roots in Payson, where she graduated from Payson High School in 1969. That same year, she was crowned Miss Payson, embodying the grace and spirit of a true princess, tiara and all. On June 19, 1970, she married her soulmate, Michael Edwin Johnson, in the Salt Lake Temple. Though Michael departed this life on July 19, 1991, Christine carried his love with her every day.

A devoted mother and wife, Christine's children were her greatest treasures. She poured her heart and soul into ensuring they had everything they needed, always putting their well-being first. Her interests included joyful days at the family cabin, camping adventures with the young women of her church, golfing, bowling, traveling, and movie nights filled with laughter. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Christine held numerous callings, but her role as Stake Young Women's Camp Director was particularly dear to her heart.

After dedicating herself to raising her family, Christine embraced a new chapter by pursuing her passion for education. She became an elementary school teacher in Nebo District, where she impacted the lives of countless young students with her genuine love and care.

Christine is survived by her children, Scott Edwin Johnson (Deborah) of Springville, Keli lvie (Buddy), of Springville, Riley Michael Johnson (Stephanie) of Springville, Becky Morgan (Max) of Springville, Kyle Dean Johnson (Terra) of Spanish Fork and Stacy Hjorth (Kenny) of Springville. Siblings, Janet Kelly (Kenneth) of Santaquin, Kevin Hiatt of Roosevelt, David Hiatt (Diann) of Payson, and Steven Hiatt (Sandra) of Payson. She has 22 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren who adore her.

Christine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Edwin Johnson, her parents Dean Luther and Luva Dawn Hiatt, her brother Jimmy Hiatt, and her grandson Britton Ivie. She is now reunited with countless family members who await her on the other side.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Springville Kolob Stake Chapel, located at 1260 South 500 East, Springville, Utah.
