Christeen was truly an angel who walked among us. She left her earthly existence December 26, 2007 to join her eternal family. Christeen was born May 3, 1915 to Charles William Whetten and Ivy Tietjen in Bluewater, New Mexico. She spent her childhood in Colonial Juarez, Mexico marrying Stanley Romney in 1934. They had two children. After the passing of her first family, Christeen served a mission to Mexico City. She married LaVon Gilman in 1953 and started her second family.
Christeen embodied all the traits an angel has; patience, unwavering faith, fortitude, compassion, steadfastness, kindness and absolute love for her Savior and her family. She is singing, dancing, and laughing now with those who have preceded her.
She is survived and greatly missed by her son Randy (Brenda) Gilman, Lincoln City, Oregon; sister, Freda (Orville) Thayne, Bend, Oregon; brother, Charles Alma (Rose) Whetten, Silver City, New Mexico; son-in-law, Russell Dobbs; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to Alpine Hospice, the volunteers, Hearthstone Manor and all who took care of her and visited with her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville.
