Cheryl met Jeff at a skating rink in California on New Years Eve and fell in love. Jeff introduced her to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. During their courtship, he taught her the gospel and she began to realize how important having a family was to him. She was told at an early age that she would never be able to have children, so she tried to break off the relationship. All the while Jeff prayed about their relationship and was told, by the Spirit, that he would have a family and that Cheryl would join the church. He promised Cheryl that if she would marry him, they would have a family. She was so shocked by his conviction, not knowing about the Holy Ghost, she told him that she would marry him, but to never expect her to become one of the “those” Mormons. Cheryl cut her education short, and she and Jeff were married in July and moved to Utah. Of course, you know the rest of the story, she was baptized 4 months later and soon after started her family.
Cheryl (also known as Cherry Coke) was a beautiful soul and made friends wherever she went. She loved being a grandma and great grandma best. She treasured her relationship with her Savior and had a strong testimony of the gospel. She loved her family and all of God’s children which is why she loved Family History so much. She has been active in Genealogy and Family History for over 50 years serving as a Family History Consultant and Instructor for most of those years. She was a Worldwide Support Missionary for over two years and a temple ordinance worker at the Provo Temple for over three years. With lots and lots of help she has been able to provide ordinances for over a thousand of her ancestors and descendants. Her family knows that she is continuing her work on the other side.
