Charlotte Marie Harting Beach, our precious mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, joined her eternal companion the afternoon of 3 August 2007. She was 90 years old. Charlotte was born in Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois on October 12, 1916 to Frank K. and Jennie Evelyn Hall Harting. She was the youngest of five children-two sisters, one brother and one half-brother.

Charlotte graduated from Sterling High School and attended Scoville Business College in Illinois. She worked three jobs to pay for college. Upon completing her education, she worked for the Chicago Motor Club. With the onslaught of World War II, Charlotte passed the federal civil service exam and worked in the War Department as a secretary attached to Savanna Ordinance Depot in Savanna, Illinois. At a dance at Savanna Ordinance Depot Charlotte met her future husband and sweetheart. Charlotte married "Mort" Mortimer Clayton Beach on May 29, 1949 in Sterling, Illinois and resided in East Syracuse, New York. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple on Oct. 21, 1995.

Charlotte was the epitome of service. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star-Manlius Chapter, Order of the Amaranth, North Manlius Grange, African Violet Society, Couples Club, Senior Citizens, Square Dancers, 4-H clubs and was an avid sports fan. During their marriage Charlotte, a self proclaimed career woman, worked for Syracuse University, Hancock AFB, East Syracuse-Minoa School District; Lamson Corporation; legal secretary for Smith & Sovik Law Firm as well as Fred Butz Attorney at Law, both law firms of Syracuse, NY. She retired from The New York State Thruway Authority Division of Engineers.

Charlotte joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints later in life and served faithfully in any calling she was given. She was a church Service Missionary at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah and a Temple Worker at the Provo L.D.S. Temple. She was a member of Camp Union - Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Mapleton.

Our sweet mother is survived by her daughter and her son: Cheryl and Charles Joseph Unice III of Mapleton, UT; Gary and Kathy Hartman Beach of Taylorsville, UT. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Besides her beloved husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sisters Vivian Eileen Harting and Celestine Mildred Harting Michaels; her brother Woodard Francis Harting and her half-brother Lester Hall.

Funeral services will be held in the Mapleton L.D.S. Chapel, corners of Main and Maple, Mapleton, UT. at 11 a.m. on 7 August 2007, with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Boulevard, Syracuse, NY.

On behalf of her family let us express our heartfelt appreciation to Hearts for Home Health, Hearts for Hospice and Hearts to Go for always being there for us, their consistent, dependable help and marvelous care provided our mother over her illness. We would especially like to thank with utmost gratitude the administration and staff of East Meadows Care Center for the loving attention and comfort given our mother during her stay with them.
