Cecilia Maycock Beyers, age 85, of Salt Lake City, Utah, peacefully passed away Thursday night, February 26, 2009. She was born November 8, 1923, in Springville, Utah to George Ray Maycock and Annie Selina Condie Maycock. She married Charles H. Beyers on November 30, 1946. Their family was sealed for time and eternity in 1970 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Cecilia, or "Cissie" as friends and family knew her, always had an interest in theatre. She wrote, produced, directed, and starred in her first play at age 7 in a neighbor's garage in Springville. She continued with this passion through her teens and early adulthood. She graduated with a degree in theatre from the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California, where she also first met her beloved husband, Charles. Cissie continued her profession as she starred with her husband in a pilot program for TV called "My Dog Sheppe", which played a role in establishing a TV series that many are familiar with called "Lassie". As the Beyers Family moved to Hot Springs, AR she continued her career as she played a major role in the success of the Hot Springs Community Players, as well as establishing her own Speech and Drama School.
Cissie also used her talents through her church activity where she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Among the callings she held, she served as Relief Society President, local Ward Young Women President, and Stake Young Women President, which covered most of the state of Arkansas.
From Cecilia's family: "As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Cecilia lived a full and exciting 85 years. Though she had many physical struggles during the last 10 years, she has left a legacy of learning, faith, and endurance that will teach generations to come, both within and reaching far outside of our family". And we also add, in her memory: "Be happy...Life is a wonderful journey".
