Catherine Stevens Boman, age 86 of Springville, Utah passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Utah Valley Specialty Hospital in Provo, Utah. She was born January 22, 1928 to Kenneth R. Stevens and Iona Brimhall Stevens in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Catherine grew up in Logan, Utah where she graduated from Logan High School and attended Utah State University for two years. She and her family lived two years in Tahiti when her father was called as a LDS Mission President. Catherine married Paul V. Boman on November 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Catherine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, Sunday School, MIA and Relief Society. She was always a visiting teacher, enjoyed being a pianist and organist and singing in choirs, especially the Musettes in Springville. Paul and Catherine were assigned to the Family History Mission 1990-1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1992-1993, they were assigned to the Missionary Department in Salt Lake City. In 1993-1996, Paul and Catherine organized and became the directors of the Springville, Utah Family History Center.
Mom was part of the Modern Mother's Club for many years and also an officer and volunteer of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Catherine enjoyed sewing, hand work of all kinds, reading, genealogy, family history and was very skilled with her computer. Mom was very compassionate and never judgmental. She demonstrated a Christ-like love for others throughout her life. Her family was her greatest joy and gathering us all together was the highlight of her life.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Paul; children: Susan Odegard, Paul Jr. (Sally), Maile (Chesley Walker), Lucy (Phil White), Ken, Elizabeth (Dave Wilkinson), and Kent; 26 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brothers: Dr. Kenneth R. Stevens (Peggy), Dr. Lyman B. Stevens (Kathryn), and Mark B. Stevens (Ginger); sister, Vera S. Winkel (Cleve); brother-in-law, LeGrande Allen; and so many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Ren and Emma Boman; her sister, Marva S. Allen; her brother, KB; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center located at 555 South 600 East (Averett Ave.) in Springville. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville or Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
The family would especially like to thank the staff and special caregivers at the Utah Valley Specialty Hospital that took some wonderful care of our sweet wife and mother. Love to you all!
