Carolena Barnes Flint

Carolena Barnes Flint, 57, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009, after a valiant struggle with cancer. She has been an optimistic and hopeful example to all as she has endured much suffering for the last 3 1/2 years.



Born 17 December, 1951, in Ogden, she was the youngest of three children. Carolena served faithfully as a missionary in the Michigan, Lansing Mission and within all the auxiliaries of LDS church, Cub Scouts and Primary being her favorites. She taught preschool for many years and many, many children adored her. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own. Carolena married her eternal companion, Marvin Daniel Flint, on 17 November, 1988 in the Salt Lake Temple.



Carolena is survived by her husband, Marvin, sister, Leola (Samuel "Bert") Naylor, Springville, brother, Merlin Mark (Darla) Barnes, Las Vegas, NV, and nieces and nephews, Wendy (Kelly) Clark, Maple Valley, WA, Brenda Naylor, Brian (Karlyn) Naylor, Duaine (Rashele) Naylor, Shaun (Dawn) Naylor, all of Springville, Jari Hitchen, Pahrump, NV, Chad (Rebecca) Barnes, Las Vegas, NV, Lisa (Javier) Garcia, Austin, TX, and Jane Thompson, Ogden.



Among those loved ones waiting to welcome her are her anxious parents, Herbert and Elida Knight Barnes, and many adored pets.



The family would like to thank Dr. Lor Randall and his staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute, Verizon Home Health staff, Dr. Sean Curzon, and Applegate Hospice for their excellent care and kindnesses. We also owe heartfelt gratitude to Carolena's ward members for their constant love, support and service to her and Marvin.



Services will be held Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek 5th Ward Chapel at 860 East 200 North in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
