Caroldine Mason Gilbert

1944~2013

On early Sunday morning January 20, 2013 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and selfless friend Caroldine Mason Gilbert returned to her Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with brain cancer surrounded by all of her children.

Mom we are so happy that you are not in pain, and able to be with all your loved ones that have passed before you. We are so grateful and feel it was a great blessing to be able to care for you the last couple of months. What a great example you are to all of us, you have always had a positive attitude and great outlook on life, you are always making sure everyone around you was comfortable; never caring about yourself, everyone else always came first. Thank you for always making holidays so special, we always knew even on Valentines or St. Patrick's Day that we could expect a special treat.

Caroldine was born May 11, 1944 to Dean and Emma Mason. She was raised in Springville, Utah and graduated from Springville High School and also attended Snow College. She was married to DeRay Taylor in the Salt Lake Temple and had six children together. They were later divorced, she then married her eternal friend, Wayne Gilbert and were sealed together. They enjoyed 18 great years together.

Mom had so many talents. She always used them to serve people; her motto was to serve someone every day. She had a sense of humor that was contagious; she would always make us laugh. Making quilts was her specialty, she had one for every occasion; baby showers, baptisms, missionaries, and graduations. Caroldine served in many callings in the church. She loved Relief Society, the Young Women's program, and every other organization she served. One of the highlights of her life was serving a mission in Michigan with the love of her life, Wayne Gilbert. Caroldine was always taking meals to people and making goodies for neighbors and friends. She loved to be surrounded by the people she cared about. Music was a huge part of her life.

Caroldine is survived by her children Carolyn (Bryan) Graham (Springville), Debbie Wilson (Spanish Fork), David (Reyna) Taylor (Spanish Fork), Brent (Lalena) Taylor (Parowan), Rustin (Kilee) Taylor (Highland), her 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jim (Carol) Mason, Brenda (Kevin) Olsen, and Jay (Shelly) Mason. She was preceded in death by her son Bradley E. Taylor, her parents Dean and Emma Mason, and her eternal companion Wayne Gilbert. We are so comforted knowing that mom is now with them.

The family would like to thank the loving nurses and doctors of Curo Hospice and Dr. Jay Clark and Dr. Nathan Rich in the Oncology Department at UVRMC.

A private memorial will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2013. Family was the most important thing for mom. In lieu of flowers, take a day off work and have a day with your families. We love you mom!!!
